ELECT
Scott Hudson, State Representative

I am running for State Representative for Michigan's 43rd District which is
comprised by Waterford Township, the northwest five precincts of West
Bloomfield Township, and Michigan's tiniest city of Lake Angelus.

The needs are great, the times are not easy. The modern history of Michigan
has been formed in many positive ways by the dynamic and powerful
automobile industry. Manufacturing and engineering has created considerable
wealth and lifestyles that are things of dreams.

Michigan and southeast Michigan in particular are feeling the brunt of a
worldwide economy that allows manufacturing to be done in countries that
have labor costs that are so low that it is difficult or impossible to compete
with US based labor costs. While American and Michigan environmental laws
have taken major steps to improve the environment, other countries get
"bigger bangs for their bucks" than we can, polluting willy nilly, creating a
manufacturing base that has never been within their reach until the most
recent generation.

The oil based economy has largely served people well and provided lifestyles
undreamed of just short years ago. Today military might and wars are
employed in order to secure oil sources. The cost in blood and resources is
high. Michiganders have known that
we must diversify our economy for a
long time. Words are not enough.
We must act.

Today, mistakes in government policies have led to a housing market that is
upside down and unemployment is higher than we are accustomed to.

The youngest generation relies on their parents' generation to provide to them
a way of life that offers life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - this is an
American truth that has not changed and never should. How this American
constant is provided is our challenge.

We need a clean and unpolluted Earth. We need good paying JOBS that will
be here tomorrow and the next day. We must provide access to educational
opportunities to all our citizens. We must insure a legal and judicial system
that is not controlled by the "foxes" but by the people. Government must be
answerable to the people, not to special interests. Government must be
limited and American Principles of limited government must be a constant
factor so as to not let Government get too big, because it is impersonal.

Jefferson said it best, "the Government that governs least, governs best".

I am running to work to
restore balance and common sense and JOBS to a
wonderful state and nation.

I began life as a Waterford resident and aside from about 13 years away, I continue
as a Waterford resident. My roots and my family's roots are blue collar and hard
work. I will be able to serve this area because I understand that people of this
District want to be their own master and do not want the government to interfere
unduly in their lives. A vital key to making things work is the ability to bring people
together and to create situations that are win-win for the community and the
individual.

If I had my way there would be no political parties. Partisanship serves the few and
not the community. It divides people when neighbors need to be brought together,
especially in tough times. Ideology is fine for the political scientist but Waterford is
the real world with real people.

True leadership will serve to create jobs of the future that will lead Michigan back to
the cutting edge in the world. True energy independence can begin here. Job
creation needs to begin here; not state created but state enabled. Waterford has a
major airport in our midst. We should partner with all governmental units and
private business to create an Automation Alley Aviation Spur along M-59, and work
to develop the already zoned area south of M-59 so as to attract the Fortune 500
companies that fly into our midst every day.

I have a deep understanding of this District and this State. I bring people together. I
help others realize positive dreams for a living. It's what I do every day. Waterford is
home, where I want my family to be.
